Some Things to Expect in a Clinic with Dr. Miller

I am a singer, too!  I come at instrumental rehearsal with a very vocal approach.

I am Suzuki trained!  Listening is one of the most important things we work on.

Some of the things I tend to focus on are: 

• Phrasing, connection, line, direction

• Drama and the musical narrative

• The hierarchy of listening and watching, and how the two interact

• Developing internal pulse in the ensemble, and how it unlocks freedom of musical expression

• Singing for intonation, rhythm, and musicality

I do quite q bit of adjudication, and am happy to work with your ensemble with that in mind; we can talk through what judges listen for and I can give feedback specific to that environment.  Make sure to ask if you would like this!
